LEADERSHIP ROLE COMPASS

The Leadership Role Compass is an online tool that gives leaders structured feedback on how their idea of leadership and leadership action align with the expectations and experiences of their employees.

Compare against your own standard, not a generic standard

Well-known instruments for leadership feedback or leader assessment are usually based on a universal leadership ideal against which leaders are compared. This common practice can become costly. What is generally considered good leadership can unnecessarily bind attention in a particular leadership context. It is not efficient in every context to “involve all employees” or “empower” them.

The Reflective Leader System takes a different approach. Leaders should not be measured against a general ideal, but against their individual idea of leadership.

Four Perspektives

That is exactly what the Leadership Role Compass does – a tool leaders can use independently. It makes four perspectives visible:

The Leadership Role Compass therefore shows whether and to what extent the idea of leadership, one’s own leadership action, expectations, and experienced leadership align, rather than measuring leadership against abstract target models.

Idea of leadership

What is my understanding of and standard for good leadership?

Leadership action

How do I assess my own leadership action?

Leadership expectations

What do my employees expect from me?

Leadership experience

How do my employees experience me?
